Expand array in DL380 G5 not supported

Hello,

I am trying to expand an array (RAID5) under a Smart Array P400 but in the ACU utility doesn't appear the option to expand it. I tried with ACU CLI (command line based) but the message I get is that it is an operation not supported with the current configuration.

I have a RAID5 with three disks SAS(70 GB) and I want to add another SAS disk of 70GB. I can see the new disk in ACU but the system don't allow me to expand the existing array.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

I have the same problem, have composed a little slideshow showing what I do and what the system replies.

Please have a look, any suggestions on what to do are extremely welcome.

Re: Expand array in DL380 G5 not supported

I found one solution. The DL380 G5 with P400 not support the expand and migration. But DL380G5 with P400i allow migrate and expand. the Controller p400 have cache 256MB and haven├В┬┤t BBWC. The controller P400i hace 512 MB cache and BBWC (it's necessary to migrate and online expand)
You may see the features of the controller. ├В┬┐Have it or not??
But you don't worry HP say "easy upgrade 256-->512 and BBWC"

Re: Expand array in DL380 G5 not supported

I found a solution. The Smart Controller P400 don't support migration and expand online but the Smart Controller P400i support it. The P400 haven't BBWC and it have 256MB cache only. While the P400i have 512 MB and BBWC allow:
online migration
online expand
But you don't worry. HP say easy upgrade to 512 MB and BBWC.
See the next link and the attachment (P400)
You may see the features of your controller in the ACU (or cli) --> more information.
