Extending Disk Space

Hi,

How long will it take to extend a disk drive from 200 GB to 300 GB? And will the data still be accessible during the extension?

Re: Extending Disk Space

hi,

i take it you mean a logical drive, it would help if you provided as much info as possible to help the guys on this forum give an answer - so server type and os, storage platform, size and speed of drives, connection type to storage and how busy array is usually might help.
you have another recent thread open - is this related to this question?

Re: Extending Disk Space

Jay:

The time it takes to extend a disk varies based on several factors...

Speed of the disks, i/o activity, etc.

Assuming you are talking about extending a Logical drive (like on a Smart Array Controller) or a virtual disk (like on an EVA)... with light i/o activity, it should not take very long to go from 200 to 300gb

I/O to the disk device (logical OR virtual) is allowed during the process so your data is available and accessible.
