Extending logical drive on P400i

I have a proliant DL360 G5 that I am attempting to expand the logical drive on. The OS is MS Server 2003 SP2. I have done this in the past on older prolaint servers no problem but on this one I can't get the Extend Logical Drive Option to appear. I currently have 140017 MB of unused space showing in the ACU.

How do I get this to happen? I know how to use DISKPART so just need to get the OS to see the unused space.

hi,

you usually need the bbwc option installed to allow raid expansion, if you have'nt got that you can't do it.

Re: Extending logical drive on P400i

You did not mention which controller you have but this is from the SA-P400 raid controller. "Addition of the battery backed cache upgrade enables BBWC, RAID 6 with ADG, array expansion, logical drive extension, RAID migration, and stripe size migration".

Most other controllers have the same limitation on their features

BBWC = Battery Backed Write Cache

But you can always create a new LUN and use that as extra storage.

All my servers have the battery backup installed. It is a P400i raid controller.
