FC-60 - How long to bind LUN's
Hi, adding some new disk and making some
changes to exiting LUN's this weekend.
Does anyone know how long it will take to bind:
12+12 18GB disks in a RAID 0/1 LUN ?
(ie, 12 in a stripe that is fully mirrored)
Total usable space < 216GB
and
4+4 73GB disks in a RAID 0/1 LUN ?
(ie, 4 in a stripe that is fully mirrored)
Total usable space < 292GB
In the past I did 6+6 18GB disks in RAID 0/1
and that took 1.5 hours to bind. 4-73's in
RAID5 took 2.5 hours. So I'd like to make a
good estimate of how long this will take.
Thanks
Bill
FYI:
we have 4 cabinets, full bus.
the first 12 18's are in cab 1 & 2 in slots
3-8. the mirror is in cab 3 & 4, same slots.
the first 4 73's are in cab 1 & 2 in slots
1-2, the mirror in cab 3 & 4 same slots

Re: FC-60 - How long to bind LUN's
You an consider bind operation as 'formatting new LUN' operation thus you can approximate bind time to number of GBs in it. I'm not sure that it's so simple, but should be this way.
Anyway, you can try binding and then you will know certainly how much time it will take :o)
