Re: FC Disk Firmware

Paula,

Great picture.

I took my first lesson about 18mths ago in Southend-on-Sea Essex, due to circumstances I have not resumed them as yet but hope to start in the new year.

Not sure whether to take a trip to the states and do the course there and then do the UK conversion and ILS/Night in the UK, or do the whole lot in the UK and suffer the expense.

Do you fly???

Re: FC Disk Firmware

Hello,

Firmware upgrades are always a risk, but if you don't do anything silly, it should go fine.

Just do not interrupt it, else you'll have a nice dead disk.

Also, make sure no FC requests/read/write is going on... disable disks from LVM to be safe. You can also remove the fibre links to the FC hub and connect to the FC disks directly to be extra sure nothing is going FC-wise.

Should HP do that for you, you will be safe cuz if a disk fails, they'll replace it there and then if it is under warranty. So, be sure you have the nice backup or two handy if such thing happens.

Re: FC Disk Firmware

Hi Kevin

Yes I fly from Biggin Hill.

I was buzzin aroud over Southend a couple on months ago.

The USA is cheaper - I am off to Kissimmee in December for some flying. There is a branch of Cabair there.

Re: FC Disk Firmware

Paula,

What do you fly? I was flying a Cessna 152, my flying was Ok but found the taxiing a bit of a task, having the brakes above the rudder pedals was a bit strange.

I will probably do the cheaper option of traveling to the USA, did you learn with Cabair or who would you recommend.

Happy flying

Kev

Re: FC Disk Firmware

Hi Kev

Yes Cabair on a Piper Warrior - low wings = better vis in the turn.

The are not the cheapest but good quality instructors.
