FC60 configure for RAID 0/1
We have got FC60 with 2 controllers and SC10 with 10 disks. SC10 is set to split modus.
How should I bind LUNs? Only 2 LUNs or 5 LUNs?
We are running HP9000/800/L2000, HP-UX 11.00.
What is the best solution for RAID0/1?

Re: FC60 configure for RAID 0/1
Paul,
if your disks are all the same size, from a performance point of view it would be best to make it one large LUN, mirrored across the two halfs of the SC10.
so for configuring the LUN you would specify first all disks of one channel, then all disks of the other channel (1:1, 1:2, 1:3 then 2:1, 2:2, 2:3). typical stripe size would be 64K.
Note that with such a large LUN you will have to use a larger physical extent size in LVM when you run vgcreate, maybe 16 or 32MB.
This limits the granularity of your lvols and filesystems, since you can only size them in 32MB steps then, but that is usually not an issue.
Find the FC60 admin guide on the web for reference on the commands, it also gives recommendations like the above.
Regards
Bernhard

Re: FC60 configure for RAID 0/1
Thank you Bernhard for your help.
I've never done it before, but now everything is up and running. Since I understand your comments and got through some docs I was able to setup FC60.
Thanks again.
