Firmware for Smart Array P400

Hi Guys,

Need your expert advice on this. We have an RX3600 running HPUX v11.31. 8xSAS disks are connected to a Smart Array P400 controller whose current firmware is v2.08.

On the HP support site, I found that there is an new firmware version which is 4.12. But reading through the README doc, it doesn't say that it supports HPUX v11.31. Taking a step back, firmware version 2.08 also does not say it supports 11.31 - but is currently installed and working.

Question is, can I go ahead and use this firmware to upgrade our current version?

Thanks!

Re: Firmware for Smart Array P400

If you look in the rx3600 quickspecks,

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12595_div/12595_div.HTML

it is clearly stated that the P400 is one of the HP-UX supported options.

I am guessing the HP-UX is not mentioned under the P400 literature because the P400 is a PCIe card and PCIe was not available on the UNIX servers until the rx hardware started havind the dual bus backplane option.

Re: Firmware for Smart Array P400

So does this mean we can go ahead and do the upgrades without worries?

Re: Firmware for Smart Array P400

According to the support matrix the default firmware for P400 is 4.12

http://docs.hp.com/en/SM_SA3/SA_Support_Matrix.htm

The file and the update tool is on the IPF offline diagnostics CD:

http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=IPF0803

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
