Storage Boards Cleanup
To make it easier to find information about HPE Storage products and solutions, we are doing spring cleaning. This includes consolidation of some older boards, and a simpler structure that more accurately reflects how people use HPE Storage.

HAS power supply module defunct

Hi,

in a HAS cabinet attached to one of our old K-class boxes one of two mains power supply modules bit the dust.
Because these items aren't monitored by EMS daemons it must have gone unnoticed.
(btw, is there a way to monitor these, maybe by a home brewn hack?)
Since we still have a few of these HAS boxes lingering (decommissioned) around I would like to steal from one of their power supplies.
These things look as if they were hot swappable.
Is it (reasonably) save to do so, or is a full power cycling of the server necessary?
Madness, thy name is system administration

Re: HAS power supply module defunct

Ralph,

The only thing the manual says is "Caution! The power module is hot pluggable only if a second power module is present and operating. If you remove the only power module in the storage system, the storage system and all modules lose power."

I'd say swap it!
