HBA shows OK when disconnected on ESX VI3
I have two new HPDL380-G5 servers built with VMWare ESX VI3 and connected to an EVA 8000 using two QLogic HBA's and I have multipathing setup. I have installed PSP version 7.60a foior ESX and configured my SIM to see the servers. Also, I can successfully recieve trap alerts via SIM when I pull a drive or power cord and everything is working perfectly. The problem I am having is when I disconnect the fiber cable from an HBA the Systems Homepage never shows a failure and continues to show the HBA as "OK" and SIM never recieves an alert. If I go to the External Sotage Connections, I see both HBA's listed along with the correct WWN, firmware, slot, serial number, etc; but the status remains "OK" even when a cable is disconnected. I want to alerted if I have a path to the EVA 8000 go down. What I am doing wrong?
Thanks, Kenny
