Hi,

I already have the following licenses: HP Business Copy EVA4400 1TB LTU ; HP CV EVA 4400 Unlimited LTU ; HP Continuous Access EVA 4400 Unlim LTU.
Please tell me the differences between those licenses.
Moreover I have an additional license : HP Dyn Cap Mgmt EVA 4400 Unlimited LTU. This one is very new to me. Please what does it do ?

Regards,
Berag

The last license is a type of thin provisoning. That means your give a lun 100GB but it will use on the storage the space when the it is really going to be used.

HP Business Copy EVA4400 1TB LTU
You can create up to 1 TB of snapshots, snapclones, etc

HP CV EVA 4400 Unlimited LTU
This is the license for Command View, allowing you to manage the EVA, no size limit.

HP Continuous Access EVA 4400 Unlim LTU
This one is to replicate data to another EVA, no size limit.

HP Dyn Cap Mgmt EVA 4400 Unlimited LTU
This one is for Dynamic Capacity Management
Read about it here:

Re: HP Dyn Cap Mgmt EVA 4400 Unlimited LTU

Dynamic Capacity is NOT 'thin provisioning'. It is a license to allow the RSM (Replication Solutions Manager) framework to automatically grow Windows 2003/8 virtual disks and expand the file system.

HP Dyn Cap Mgmt EVA not only supports Windows but also HP-UX and Linux!

It allows integration and automation of file system + LUN size growth and shrink.

Currently supported:

Windows 2000, 2003, 2008, HP-UX 11.23, 11.31, Linux RHEL AS & ES 5.0, SuSE ES 10.0
Manual Volume Shrink using Replication Solutions Manager (RSM)
Windows 2008 and HP-UX 11.23, 11.31, Linux RHEL AS & ES 5.0, SuSE ES 10.0
Policy based Volume growth using Replication Solutions Manager (RSM)
Windows 2003, 2008 and HP-UX 11.31, Linux RHEL AS & ES 5.0, SuSE ES 10.0
Policy based Volume shrink using Replication Solutions Manager (RSM)
Windows 2008 and HP-UX 11.31, Linux RHEL AS & ES 5.0, SuSE ES 10.0

See the HP StorageWorks Replication Solutions Manager user and admin guides and search for DCM or dynamic capacity management.

Re: HP Dyn Cap Mgmt EVA 4400 Unlimited LTU

Thanks Uwe for the document.

I have to implement this solutions @ a customer soon.

What i'm worried about is that this customer also uses 2 Windows 2008 Clusters. The Release notes of RSM 5.1 are saying that clustering is supported, but i'm wondering how the second node is reacting if you do a resize of the Disk by the RSM-policy?

Anyone has some exeperiences with this?

Any info is welcome!
