To make it easier to find information about HPE Storage products and solutions, we are doing spring cleaning. This includes consolidation of some older boards, and a simpler structure that more accurately reflects how people use HPE Storage.

HP MSA 500 G2 connect to HP Proliant DL 585 G1

I am new to HP. I have connected DL 585 to MSA 500 G2 SCSI storage and boot the Win 2003 server. During boot time all i see 1 logical volume (belongs to server internal drives). Then I use HP storage array configuration utility (GUI) and it did not find the MSA 500 either. My question is do i need to install any software or am missing some thing before I see those drives from server. I would appreciate your help.

Re: HP MSA 500 G2 connect to HP Proliant DL 585 G1

hello purna,

all that you need: Proliant Support pack for your windows (i think that you have already, the ACU is a part of Support pack) and connectivity to MSA.
you didn't write it is a SCSI model (msa500) or FC (MSA 500 with newer (msa1000) controller)? Do you see the SCSI card /FC card? The link is ok?
In ACU you can choose controller on the top left of the screen, there is a combo box. You have to controller: Smart array 5i (internal, motherboard integrated) and MSA500.

so:
- check connectivity
- install the latest PSP for your server
(dl585 latest PSP: 8.40, you can download from hp : http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=398220&prodNameId=3288126&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-866de15a91a04c84b109f844cc this one is for windows 2003 32 bit )
- start acu, choose msa500

if its not even getting detected at POST then no way you can see it in OS.

First check the physical connection and what scsi card you using to connect it with server?
