HP Netraid part D4943-60002
Is the cache upgradeable? What is the maximum memory I can put on it if it is? What type of memory does it take?
I've read that this controller is not compatible with Windows 2000, yet it is functioning fine in my system.
Thanks,
Brian

Re: HP Netraid part D4943-60002
D6029A - 16MB SIMM Upgrade - Replaces existing 4MB SIMM in D4943A NetRaid Disk Array Controller - Do Not Mix 4MB and 16MB SIMMs (1 or 2 Used)
I got this via partsurfer at http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main?prodsrch=D4943&sel_flg=modsrch&template=main
Look under Accessories.
You can order it directly from the website.
Good luck!

Re: HP Netraid part D4943-60002
HP Netraid D4943-60002.
Also, what's the scoop on updating the firmware on the card, and the fact that I see so much information on this site about the D4943 series not being compatible with Windows 2000?

Re: HP Netraid part D4943-60002
their is only a D4943A which is it's official productnumber. D4943-60002 is it's part number, you'll find the same type of numbering accross all HP products.
The controller works on Windows 2000 but has never been officially tested/supported by HP on W2K. By the time W2K came out their were already other types of controllers out that performs much better and this card was already an older type by that time, so it made more sense to test and support newer cards.

Re: HP Netraid part D4943-60002
We have the same card and have it installed in an LC3. The firmware is A.03.00. The system came with one ultra scsi drive and we had a couple of ultra2 scsi drives we want to put in. When the system boots up, it will see the original drive, but it won't see the new drives. The power lights on the ultra2 drives flick on, then immediately turn off. We're troubleshooting, but could use a little kick. Thanks.
