Can you configure 4 MSA30 shelves with all disks full and create a partition using just the first 5 disk of each shelf ?

Re: HP Smart Array Controller 6404 question on drive configuration
If you create an array just using those disks then you can create a logical drive in that array and it will only be on those physical disks.
If you have created a single array that spans all the drives in all of the enclosures then no there is no way to specifically restrict a logical disk to a subset of drives in the array, it will be spread across all the drives.

Re: HP Smart Array Controller 6404 question on drive configuration
The SA6404 are 2 controllers in one, you are restricted to a single controller while creating logical drives.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: HP Smart Array Controller 6404 question on drive configuration
So since its 2 separate controllers in 1 I can only create the largest logical drive from 2 shelves and 28 disks.
