HP Smart Array P400 Controller No Drives Detected

Problem when initiating the execution of equipment HP Proliant ML370 Generation 5 Server

When I initiate the machine to execute the installation of the Operating system, the following message is emitted:

HP Smart Array P400 Controller (250 MB, v4.06) 0 logical Drives
1785-Slot 1 Drive Array Not configured
No Drives Detected

Press F8 to run The Option ROM Configuration foe Arrays Utility

After pressing F8 appears the following thing:

Option ROM Configuration for Arrays, Version 7.84.02.00
Controller: HP Smart Array P400, slot 1
Direct-Attached Storage

Main Menu
Create Logical Drive
View Logical Drive
Delete Logical Drive

Enter to create a new logical Drive

After pressing enter, the following message is emitted:
There are no available physical drives
press to return the main menu

All the previous one implies that I have not been able to initiate the installation of the Operating system, because the HP Smart Array P400 Controller, does not recognize discs.

Note: I have Three (3) discs HP internal P/N: 431935-B21, HPD4

Re: HP Smart Array P400 Controller No Drives Detected

Hi,

The first thing to check would be the cabling between the hard drive enclosure and the P400 SmartArray controller.

The maintenance and service guide here should help:

Re: HP Smart Array P400 Controller No Drives Detected

Rob, thanks for your quick answer.
I already review cables of data that go of the HP Smart Array P400 Controller towards discs and everything seems to be well, because the lights in the Smart Array ignite as specifies the manual. Additionally, the power cable seems to be well, because when I pledge the machine lights in discs ignite, the unique thing is that immediately they are extinguished.
What another thing could generate the problem?.

Hi,

Has the system ever worked, or is it a new system out of the box ?

If the latter, I would call support.

Cheers,

Re: HP Smart Array P400 Controller No Drives Detected

Happy Dude, thanks for your quick answer.

I tried to execute the program cp008479.exe, but it finishes with an error that says it cannot be executed in an environment DOS. I have installed a server without operating system due to the problem that I have. It is why I generated in a PENDRIVE a DOS STARUP DISK with the software HP USB Disk storage format tool, v2.1.8 and I stored the program cp008479.exe in the PENDRIVE. After that, I executed the program cp008479.exe in the server, but it finishes with the error that says it cannot be executed in an environment DOS. What another thing I can do?

Re: HP Smart Array P400 Controller No Drives Detected

Then I think You may try booting from the Firmware Maintenance CD 7.91 to get the firmware updated.

Re: HP Smart Array P400 Controller No Drives Detected

Happy Dude, already I made boot from the Firmaware Maintenance CD 7.91. Before that, I included the following files in the F:\compaq\swpackages directory:
- cp008479.exe
- CP008478.scexe
- CP008478.md5
I installed the version 4.12 of the Smart Array P400 controller (by means of the CP008478.scexe file) and everything finished ok; nevertheless, it is continued presenting/displaying the same problem.

What another thing I can do?

Best Regards

Note: When initially I described the problem, it had put:
Note: I have Three (3) internal discs HP P/N: 431935-B21, HPD4, but really the discs that I have are: (3) discs HP internal P/N: 431930-002, firmware HPD4, HP model DH072ABAA6

Re: HP Smart Array P400 Controller No Drives Detected

Did you already check the hardware (loose cables etc...)?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
