HPUX 11.00: configuring an HP Disk Array-Autoraid 12H
Please help me configuring an HP-Autoraid to my HPL1000 HPUX11.00-64-bits.
When I do an ioscan -fnC disk I don't have the devices file of the HP-Autoraid and cannot use or import any defined volume group in it:
sisaony ROOT # ioscan -fnC disk

Are there some steps i have to complete ?
Does anyone have a clue ?

Re: HPUX 11.00: configuring an HP Disk Array-Autoraid 12H
Try to create them with # insf -e
should look something like this:
# ll /dev/dsk
brw-r----- 1 bin sys 31 x040000 May 8 2003 c4t0d0
brw-r----- 1 bin sys 31 x040100 May 8 2003 c4t0d1
brw-r----- 1 bin sys 31 x040200 May 8 2003 c4t0d2
brw-r----- 1 bin sys 31 x051000 May 8 2003 c5t1d0
brw-r----- 1 bin sys 31 x051100 May 8 2003 c5t1d1
brw-r----- 1 bin sys 31 x051200 May 8 2003 c5t1d2
# ioscan -fnC disk
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
======================================================================
disk 3 0/10/0/0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP C5447A
/dev/dsk/c4t0d0 dev/rdsk/c4t0d0
disk 4 0/10/0/0.0.1 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP C5447A
/dev/dsk/c4t0d1 /dev/rdsk/c4t0d1
disk 5 0/10/0/0.0.2 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP C5447A
/dev/dsk/c4t0d2 /dev/rdsk/c4t0d2
disk 11 0/12/0/0.1.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP C5447A
/dev/dsk/c5t1d0 /dev/rdsk/c5t1d0
disk 12 0/12/0/0.1.1 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP C5447A
/dev/dsk/c5t1d1 /dev/rdsk/c5t1d1
disk 13 0/12/0/0.1.2 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP C5447A
/dev/dsk/c5t1d2 /dev/rdsk/c5t1d2

Even if a LUN is unused it should have a device file.
The easiest way to maintain the 12H array is to use SAM
select "disks and file systems" - "disk devices"
select "HP AutoRAID Disk Controller" and choose 'Actions'- 'Disk Array Maintenance'
AutoRaid Manager commands are:
arraycfg(1M), arraydsp(1M), arrayfmt(1M),arraylog(1M), arraymgr(1M), arrayrbld(1M), arrayrecover(1M), download(1M), drivetest(1M),dteststat(1M), logprint(1M)
To manage the 12H check if the ARMserver daemon is running.
/opt/hparray/bin/ARMServer

Re: HPUX 11.00: configuring an HP Disk Array-Autoraid 12H
So as Karthik mentioned do # insf -e to create the device files, or just reboot the server.

Re: HPUX 11.00: configuring an HP Disk Array-Autoraid 12H
1) The SCSI ID of both controllers (x) and (y) were set to 0. I went ahead and changed this using the LCD console on the 12H unit. When I was finished, the (x) controller was 0 and the (y) controller was 1.
2) The second thing I did is create logical drives using the 12H LCD console. My drives were all 18GB so I created all the logical drives as 18GB in size.
After I did this I was able to see the drives using ioscan. My arrays were on hardware paths 2/12, 2/4, and 4/36 so I used the following commands. You would use the same command, but substitute in your hardware paths. (%ioscan -H x/xx)
%ioscan -H 2/12
%ioscan -H 2/4
%ioscan -H 4/36
It may take a second for the system to fully recognize the drives after you do the two tasks above, but once these devices show up correctly, you should run the "insf" command. You could run it with more options if you wanted to be more specific, but running it standalone with no arguments should work fine. You could reboot also if you wish.
%insf

Re: HPUX 11.00: configuring an HP Disk Array-Autoraid 12H
Secondly, your disks are 18GB. However, your LUNs do not have to be 18GB... LUNs are logical. One LUN could reside on all twelve disks... and only the controller(s) knows where.
Above(original posting), we definitely have LUNs configured. Simple insf would solve.
