HPUX11 and AutoRaid 12H Configuration

We are having challenges setting up our 12H on a L2000 and wonder if it could be a driver issue. It seems like one post on Google showed the disk3 driver being used which is not configured in our kernal. Would that be the cause of not being able to see the device when using SAM to create a new volume group and not seeing the disk? The 12H has two controllers, we are using an A4800A card to X1 then a jumper from X2 to Y1 and terminator on Y2.............Tx for the help......Scott

This is an example from a customer:

disk 6 10/2/3/0.1.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP C5447A
/dev/dsk/c5t1d0 /dev/rdsk/c5t1d0

disc3 driver is used in old cards (HP-PB in K-Class servers for example).

For a A4800A I think this driver is OK, because this is a PCI card.

Furthermore, if it is a driver problem, it should appear like UNKNOWN, not NO_HW.

Have you formatted or deleted LUN 0 on this array? If not, you have to create one LUN 0 using front panel and perform

#insf -e and #ioscan -fn in order to check if it is in CLAIMED state.

After you can execute arraydsp -i command in order to check if Autoraid diagnostics work propperly and detect it, and arraydsp -a in order to check status.

SORRY,

when I say "if not ..." I mean that is necesary a LUN 0 in order to access to autoraid.

SO, If you have formatted it or just deleted all LUNs inside, is necessary to create it.

the 12H says "Ready"?
did you try attaching to X1 only and terminating X2? (maybe the two controllers have the same ID if they were on a different bus before.)
did you have an Ultra SCSI card in that slot before?
check at BCH, stop boot, enter service, scsi
check that there is no setting like
scsi 0/1/1/0 rate ultra
if in doubt set scsi speed (rate) to fast

Check connectors and terminator for broken or bent pins.
