HSZ70 and connection w/1" 14 disk shelves?

HSZ70 and connection w/1" 14 disk shelves?

Can one connect a HSZ70 Ultra-SCSI controller to 1" disk shelves? Sorry I don't have the part # handy for the shelve, but it holds up to 14 1-inch disks and is very commonly seen on ProLiant systems.

A colleague has put a HSZ70 controller module into an M2200 controller enclosure - the HSZ70 refused to boot.

Guess my question wasn't clear. The HSZ70 stays in its enclosure. The question is can the controller be connected and work with 1" drive shelves.
