Hard Drive Replacement

Hard Drive Replacement

I have several servers with the 9.1 GB Wide Ultra 2 (new style) drives and hundreds of servers with the 18.2 GB (new style) drives.

My question is: can I replace a 9.1 GB drive with an 18.2 when a drive fails. I am not looking for more space and I realize that I will be wasting half the drive. I just have alot more 18.2 spares than I have 9.1's.

Re: Hard Drive Replacement

If the drives are the same type as indicated, you can replace the drives, one at a time, waiting for each to complete rebuild before replacing another. Once all the 9.1G have been replaced, you would then be able to go back into the array configuration utility and create a new logical drive with the additional space.
