Host SAS topology change warnings keep occurring
Hello,
We have just setup a site with 2 MSA2012 Array Systems with 2 DL380 G5s crossconnected to these arrays.
Periodically, we are getting the following error at exactly the same time on both arrays (so to me it 'looks' like a host issue)
Host SAS topology change: Chan0, 0 out of 4 phys up, Unknown
Both controllers on the array have the same error, then immediately appear to go 'live' again.
Here is the full log when this occurs:
Info 2009-04-23 12:47:53 354 A517 Host SAS topology change: Chan0, 4 out of 4 phys up, 3.0Gb/s
Info 2009-04-23 12:47:51 354 A516 Host SAS topology change: Chan0, 3 out of 4 phys up, 3.0Gb/s
Info 2009-04-23 12:47:49 354 A515 Host SAS topology change: Chan0, 2 out of 4 phys up, 3.0Gb/s
Info 2009-04-23 12:47:47 354 A514 Host SAS topology change: Chan0, 1 out of 4 phys up, 3.0Gb/s
Warning 2009-04-23 12:47:34 354 A513 Host SAS topology change: Chan0, 0 out of 4 phys up, Unknown
Info 2009-04-23 12:47:28 354 B431 Host SAS topology change: Chan1, 4 out of 4 phys up, 3.0Gb/s
Info 2009-04-23 12:47:26 354 B430 Host SAS topology change: Chan1, 3 out of 4 phys up, 3.0Gb/s
Info 2009-04-23 12:47:24 354 B429 Host SAS topology change: Chan1, 2 out of 4 phys up, 3.0Gb/s
Info 2009-04-23 12:47:22 354 B428 Host SAS topology change: Chan1, 1 out of 4 phys up, 3.0Gb/s
Warning 2009-04-23 12:47:12 354 B427 Host SAS topology change: Chan1, 0 out of 4 phys up, Unknown
I have not seen this warning on 2 other sites that are setup the same way.
There does not seem to be any adverse affect on the esx hosts, but I don't want to ignore the warning if it could lead to something more critical.
I'm running the following revisions:
Controller Software: J300P13-02
Enclosure Firmware: O300B23
Has anyone seen or heard of this message?
Thanks!
Aaron

Do all the MSA Controllers have the same version of Controller Software and Enclosure Fimrware...
Does the ESX Servers conneceted directly to the MSA or u have a fabric...

Ok,
we might be on the right track...
Here are some screen shots, and it 'looks' like maybe the enclosure code on the array head might be out of date from the sub-enclosure (see attached pic)
My problem, is I have loaded the latest updates from here, and this is what I have gotten. The latest firmware loads seemed to work successfully..

Re: Host SAS topology change warnings keep occurring
Oh,
and we are using the MSA2012sa, so no fabric, just direct connected with SAS HBAs.
