Re: How can we make virtual partitions on hp san 4400
Hi, could you explain a bit more about this virtual partition?
On the EVA4400 you put the physical disks in a disk group.
In this disk group you can create vdisks (vraid0,1,5, etc) of basically any size you want.
This is then presented to a host/server.

Solutionread the user guide and if you don't want to try these out on your production system there is an EVA simulator on http://software.hp.com
1.) From CV user guide on http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual&lang=en&cc=us&docIndexId=64179&taskId=101&prodTypeId=18964&prodSeriesId=471497#4
"A disk group is a set of physical disks that form storage pools from which you can create virtual disks.
When you initialize an array, a default disk group is created. You can create additional disk groups for such functions as remote replication, but performance is generally better with one large disk group than with multiple small disk groups. See HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array user guide for instructions to create multiple disk groups"
2) You can also create folders to further categorize the vdisks but that is only cosmetical / to make it easier for you to find them.
