How long to expand drive array

I have a customer with a ML370 and a SMART Array 431 contoller. They had 3 18gig 10Kk Hot swap drives in a raid 5 and I added a 4th drive to the existing array. I took the option of expanding the existing array instead of creating a second logical drive. I did get message about WIn 2K and the possible corruption of data. This is a WInnt 4.0 box and so I took the expand option. I changed the priority to high on both the rebuild an expand. How long is it going to run to be able to add the 4th drive in. It seems like it takes about 10 to 15 mins per % mark. Any ideas on how long this takes and should I have created a second logical drive instead.

Re: How long to expand drive array

no need to create a second logical drive..this should work fine..with the priority set to high and depending on how much data is on those drives it should take no more than 2-3 hours...
We are here for a good time, not a long time!

Re: How long to expand drive array

At this moment I am Adding a 18gb 10k hot swap disk to a raid 5 set of 3 18gb disks.

It is taking about 20 mins per percent. Is this normal I have about 25 gb Data.
