How to add a Spare drive.

I am trying to Add a Spare drive to a Smart Array 3200 with 3 drives configured as RAID 5 using ACU 6.40.11.0.

The help file says that there may be an "Add a Spare" option on the Coniguration Wizzard Main menu but it is not there.

How can I add a spare?
Does the Spare Drive have to be in a slot prior to running the ACU?

Yes, you have to insert new drive in drive slot and then you can configure it as a spare drive.

Yes. One has to insert the spare drive in slot before starting the configuration.

This method is also followed in higher end storages boxes such as XP512/XP1024.

Hi!
Insert hdd in server,
then when system boot and when you see message Smart Array ... pres "F8" button.
Go to "Configure menu", select disk what you add and add it as HOT SPARE disk.

Thanks to all: I inserted the drive and ran the software and thus I now have a spare drive configured.
