How to see and add EVA3000 virtual disk?

I finally have the ia64 hpux system able to see up to the hsv100 controllers, but I am unable to see any disks beyond this. Here is output to ioscan. How Do I get the disk(s) to appear beyond this?

0/5/1/0.1 fcp FCP Domain
0/5/1/0.1.8.255.0 ext_bus FCP Device Interface

Re: How to see and add EVA3000 virtual disk?

Are you sure you presented disks to this host?

Do you have SecurePath installed ?

What is the output of 'spmgr display' ?

Did you do an 'insf -e' ??

Re: How to see and add EVA3000 virtual disk?

1) No. I am not quite clear on how to do this.

2) I was under the impression Secure Path was only needed for Path Failover, unless HP has made it mandatory, then I have to wait until HP can provide this for us.

3) spmgr does not seem to exist on HP/UX 11I V2 (find does not find it).

4) Yes.

I am currently downloading the HP-UX eva Platform kit 3.0B and a smaller 3.0E tar file of the same kit.

Re: How to see and add EVA3000 virtual disk?

1) Go to the Virtual Disk properties page. You need to select the "ACTIVE" object, which is below the disk family. Then choose the Presentation tab and proceed.

2) You can run single-path.

3) It is part of Secure Path. If nobody did install it on this server, then don't be surprised if it is not there ;-)

4) Doesn't help if you did not present a virtual disk. What you see as LUN 0 is the controller array device, not a data disk.

Re: How to see and add EVA3000 virtual disk?

Matthew

As long as you dif not present your disk(s) you will not seem them through ioscan

Start CommandView EVA and go to the Virtual Disk properties panel
Select the disk and use the presentation buttom to present the disk

Re: How to see and add EVA3000 virtual disk?

I think you need both Commandview and SecurePath even without failover.

Re: How to see and add EVA3000 virtual disk?

Commandview runs on the management appliance and you can run single path without SecurePath. However, there are a whole lot of restrictions and zoning rules when running single path. See:

Re: How to see and add EVA3000 virtual disk?

Have you present for your vdisk? set it by using Command view EVA. If you are new bie use EVA simulator first.
get EVA simulator at:

Following it's exercise

Re: How to see and add EVA3000 virtual disk?

Thanks for all the help. I was able to figure out the command view (after a patch from HP) and present the vdisks to the unix host on lun 1. Ioscan still cannot see the vdisk. It still sees the the controllers though. I do not know what to check. I do not have Secure path installed so no, spmgr. The SMA sees everything just fine.
