How to tell ?

Whenever I buy HP HDD`s I want to be 100% sure that the drives are genuine HP products. As I travel world-wide I have heard stories about counterfeit drives from the far-east. I have bought drives in the far-east a couple of times but never experienced any problems. Other than serial number check- any other methods to tell right from wrong ? Labels ? Box ?

Appreciate any answers

Simply ask HP, You can register HP products, and at that point any fake should turn up.

Also You could query the serial number via SCSI and compare it to the serial number on the cardboard box.
yesterday I stood at the edge. Today I'm one step ahead.
