Hp Disk System 2300 runnig RAID 5?

How can I set up my HP Disk System 2300 (A6490AD) to run a RAID 5 config, using my rx2600 server running 11.i ver 1.6? please help.

If you want to do raid 5 on this unit, it will have to be software based raid 5, unless you have a raid controller card for this machine.

The DS2300 is a JBOD (just a bunch of disks) unit. So if you do an 'ioscan -funC disk' you should see all the disks that are in this unit.

If you have the full version of VxVM then you do have the ability to do software based raid 5 on with these disks, I think.

Otherwise you will need a RAID controller card. I don't know if they are available for the rx2600 machines or not. Maybe someone else can answer that question.

A7143A is planned to be supported on rx2600 running 11i v2.0 (11.23) in the next few months.

I forgot to mention that A7143A works with the StorageWorks 4300 series JBODs, not with the DS2300.
