Invalid system Drive After patching latest driver with SmartStart 5.1

Hi, I have patched a NT40 SP6a PL3000 server with Smart Array 2DH Controller with the latest SmartStart 5.1 and cause the system fail at boot time. The error message invalid system drive during Kernel initialisation. I have figured out is due to the driver I have patched and corrected the problem by restoring backup copy of the winnt folder and the system boot up again. Wondering why this happened?

Re: Invalid system Drive After patching latest driver with SmartStart 5.1

This could happen due to other sections of the server not being up to date. Since the driver for the 2DH is the latest, the firmware on the 2DH, server BIOS and the server's F10 partition could be too old for the driver to work properly. Once you update one you have to update all.
