Is a compaq smart-2P the same as a smart-2dh

...or have i been duped? I bought (what I thought was) a Smart-2/DH on eBay, SmartStart 5.50 identifies it as a Smart-2/P...?

..bt it looks like the card in the 2/DH reference guide.

Confused? Me too!

I've found pictures of both the Smart-2/P and the Smart-2/DH; they are VERY similar in appearance. The major difference appears to be the cache; the Smart-2/P has 4MB with battery backup; the Smart-2/DH has 16MB with battery backup.

Duped I was.

$17.49 inc shipping & handling... Why? should I quit complaining?

No, but I wouldn't mind getting one myself as have a SMart-2DH that has failed.
(The cache batteries checked out ok on a multimeter but get a 17xx type failure error, which first was intermittent on occasional power-ups but now is permanent)

I assume you are talking US dollars?

Yes... US $. eBay has quite the resource for ProLiant parts; on the subject of the error code, I have a 2/DH manual somewhere - have you looked it up?

I have a pdf document of the Smart-2 Manual.
POST error 1783 Slot 6 Drive Array Controller Failure I seem to recall, which it says is to do with bad card seating or faulty System ROM.

I tried to update the firmware then, but that utility wouldn't detect the card and eventually timed out also.

Strange that it started happening intermittently on power up then became permanent over a few weeks.

Being US$ I can at least multiply that figure by two for me, probably more.
Not sure how plentiful eBay Australia would be for Proliant parts either.
