Leveling taking too much time, it's been over 3 days and just 60% completed.

I have a question about leveling. It's EVA 6400 and we've added 12 more drives to the EVA, all 450GB as the capacity threshold had exceeded critical state. Now it's been more than 3 days and leveling has completed just 68%. There is an urgent request for space allocation to few ESX servers. Can allocation be done while the leveling is still in progress or strictly not allowed. Can someone explain me the pros and cons. Thanks.

Hi

You can create new disks while leveling is going on just look at the free space on your disk group and don't exceed it. Also from what you sent you have double protection level this means you have disk space of four disks set aside for spare you can temporarily change this to none (you will gain immediately 4 X450GB) this might also increase you leveling speed and give you more free space after you finish you can change back to double protection.

No need to worry about this levelling as it is induced by addition of disks. Levelling is a back ground process which will have very little impact to normal usage (including addtion of LUNs).
