License limit on VA

I have a 3TB License for Secure Manager. Does this mean I can only install up to 3Tb of disk. Or is the limit on the amount of LUN space I can allocate that would not include the Redundancy, Hot spare and Unallocated space?

Re: License limit on VA

3TB is the amount of net capacity that you can selectively present/hide to individual servers. So it does not count for spare, RAID overhead and unallocated space.
If you ceate LUNs more than 3TB worth these cannot be selectively presented and thus will be seen by all hosts on the SAN.
For more info have a look at the maual on:

Re: License limit on VA

Hi,

actually 3TB it is the amount of LUN space that you can "secure"; regardless of unallocated space, hot spare mode etc.

you can add more disk space, but once you have LUNs in your security table that add up to 3TB and you would like to make an additional entry in your security table you will get an error message.

Basically you are both saying the same thing. I can have up 3TB of Luns presented to my host and 500Gb of Raid and 200Gb of unallocated?

Re: License limit on VA

Mark,

to avoid misunderstanding:

you can have *more* than 3TB of LUN space presented to your hosts, however, everything over 3TB will be presented to *all* WWNs, ie. be visible for any host HBA in that fabric zone, hence potentially "unsecure".
