Re: MSA P2000fc G3 shows as a L port status.

Hey thanks for the info I will change to point to point.....

As to my question, can I have a MSA1500 and a MSA2000 both connecting to 1 FC HBA on the same server ?

So Say:
port 0 FC HBA 1 on server
Port 1 FC on MSA 1500
Port 2 FC on MSA 2000

Zone 1 Port 0 and port 1
Zone 2 Port 0 and port 2

Config: Zone 1 and Zone 2

(I have more devices attached but this is a simplified version of the question)

Will you see both controllers in the HP ACU on the server as expected and required to configure?
At present port 2 is set to a L and I think this may be the issue ?

Many Thanks

Hi!

No, the MSA2000 will not show up in ACU.
You do all the configuring via the MSA2000 web interface.

Yes, do configure one HBA-port and one storage-port per zone. Brocade's recommendation is 'one initiator and one target' in each zone.

Re: MSA P2000fc G3 shows as a L port status.

Hi, Thanks again!

So am I correct in thinking that 1 single port FC HBA on a server can have 2 different MSA's connected to it (as with the zoneing and config I described ?)and the server will see them both ?

Also is the selective storage presentation configured in the web front end of the MSA 2000 also.

Re: MSA P2000fc G3 shows as a L port status.

As said, the P2000 will not show up in ACU.

The "SSP" for P2000 is most easily done in CLI.

Set all virtual disks to not mapped.

Once the WWNs are detected, adjust the host entries.

CLI# set host-name id profile

Then present the disks to the hosts:

map volume access rw ports a1,b1,a2,b2 lun host

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Yes the server can see both MSAs if you have a zone with

hbawwn
msa1500wwn

and another zone with

hbawwn
msa2000wwn

you can do it other ways, like have the msa2000 wwn and the 1500 in the same. but if you separate them it makes truobleshooting easier

Re: MSA P2000fc G3 shows as a L port status.

Hey, SO thanks for all of the help and I have made good progress.

I changed the port type to point-point on the MSA 200 and they now show as F ports on the SAN switches and I have zones apropriately.

I setup the Host port names from the WWN on the MSA and created my VDisk and Volumes and mapped acordingly.

The issue I now have is the HP MPIO that I upgraded to the MSA 2000 version (W2003) does nto apear to be functioning as I see each volume twice, this makes sense due to multiple paths but I thought the MPIO would take care of this as it has on previous MSA deploys ??.........

Any Help/advice greatly apreciated!
