MSA1000 + ESX 3.0.1 + HP Agent 7.60
Hi all
My configuration:
MSA1000 (port 0 switch)
- 2 CTRLS firmware 4.48
- 2 switch 2/8 v3.2.1b
- 4 x 300 GB HD
ESX1: server DL380 G5 (port 1 switch) + 2 HP StorageWorks FC1142SR 4Gb PCI-e HBA
ESX2: server DL380 G5 (port 2 switch) + 2 HP StorageWorks FC1142SR 4Gb PCI-e HBA
SFILE: server DL380 G4 (port 3 switch) + 2 HP StorageWorks FC1143 4Gb PCI-X 2.0 HBA
zoning (same configuration on each switch)
Defined configuration: cfg: config_1 ESX1; SFILE; ESX2
zone: ESX1 1,0; 1,1
zone: ESX2 1,0; 1,2
zone: SFILE 1,0; 1,3
Effective configuration: cfg: config_1
ESX1, ESX2: VMware ESX 3.0.1 + HP Agent 7.60b (hpmgmt-7.6.0b-vmware.tgz)
SFILE: Windows 2003 SP1 + MPIO + HP Agent 7.40
All is working fine, but from the management home page of server ESX1 and ESX2 there's no External Storage (MSA1000). I can see only the HBA, but not the storage.
Any suggestion ?
Many thanks
Armando

Re: MSA1000 + ESX 3.0.1 + HP Agent 7.60
Have you tried to remove the switch zoning (open it wide up), to see if the LUNs appear?
Have you actually configured any LUNs on the array yet?
I use a serial connection to the array, and build the LUNs manually. I've had no issues with a very similar configuration.
If you need the CLI syntax to build a LUN, let me know.

Re: MSA1000 + ESX 3.0.1 + HP Agent 7.60
Thanks Thomas
Sorry, my explanation was not clear.
The storage is working fine in ESX environment: storage, fibre path failover and so on. The problem is only in the HP Management homepage: I don't see the external storage.
I tried another configuration (different hardware):
MSA1000 (port 0 switch)
- 2 CTRLS firmware 4.48
- 2 switch 2/8 v3.2.1b
- 1 x 150 GB HD
ESX server: server BL 20p G3(port 1 switch) + fibre mezzanine card blade
Same zoning
Same ESX and HP Agent (PSP) version
In this configuration I can see the MSA1000 in the management home page of the ESX server. Maybe a driver / HBA problem ?

Re: MSA1000 + ESX 3.0.1 + HP Agent 7.60
It must be a driver issue. I'm using the FCA2215 HBA's in my dl380G5 servers.
