MSA1000 SPOF
Hi,
On MSA1000 with two shelves, to reduce SPOF, is ti possible to configure RAID 1+0 from one shelf to the other shelf.
I mean to configure the array so each disk on shelf one will be mirrored on a disk on the second shelf.
In this way, you don't have SPOF on shelves.
I don't remember if it's possible, I've never done it, and I don't find docs on that.
Thanks.
Ben

Re: MSA1000 SPOF
Ben,
I believe when you configure RAID1 arrays on an MSA1000, it automatically creates them as 1+0 if spindles are present in pairs. The only problem is you can't dictate which spindles to mirror, it's upto the MSA as far as I can tell.
So you could create a LUN which spans shelves.
My only gripe with the MSA1000 is the EMU, it's a SPOF and you can't do anything about it.
Jeff

Re: MSA1000 SPOF
By default, I think MSA split mirrors between 2 halves of a single shelf.
Thanks for your answer.

Re: MSA1000 SPOF
So what do you think of a replication solution, like Storage Mirroring?
Virtual Replicator doesn't provide clones, does it?
