MSA1000 & MSA15000
I'm going to buy one of these MSA, but I have some concerns about prices and performance.
Actually, I see I could buy two MSA1000 at the same price of a MSA1500.
I see one MSA1500 can drive 4 SCSI cabinets, while MSA1000 only two (itself more another one), using two SCSI channels for each cabinet.
But, being controllers the same, would it be faster to have two MSA1000 instead of a MSA1500?
Which would be the advantage of a MSA1500 (apart of SAS drives)?
Thanks,
Tonino

Re: MSA1000 & MSA15000
MSA1000 can hold up to 42 disks, 14 disks per shelf. You can add up to two MSA30 SB shelfs to it, or one MSA30 DB.
The MSA1500cs uses the same controller as the MSA1000, so the only difference is the type and the count of disks.
I wouldn't by a MSA1x00, cause the MSA2000 was launched. How much disks do you have, that you want to use in the MSA1x00? If you still want to buy a MSA1x00, then by a MSA1500cs with MSA30 SB shelfs.
Best regards,
Patrick

Re: MSA1000 & MSA15000
I will use them in raid 10 configuration, probably in groups of 6 disks.
So a single MSA1000 is fine for now.
I'm evaluating if to spend more (a lot) for a MSA1500 now, or another MSA1000 (or MSA2000) later.
If MSA1500 performances are the same of MSA1000, it could not be worth to spend more now.

Re: MSA1000 & MSA15000
Being based on the same controllers, I feel they have identical performances.
For this reason I continue to ask: Could be a MSA1500 able to handle all those disk?
Or it would be better to use two MSA1000 or one MSA1000 and a MSA2000 (later)?
