Hello,
our customer has server directly connected to MSA1000 (to internal MSA1000 switch). They decided to change this server. New server will have the same name and same IP and also it will contain the FC HBA from old server. I want to ask you, if they will connect new server to MSA1000 if this server will automatically see MSA1000 or
they need to do some extra procedure to present array disks to server? (As I wrote above, Server name, IP and FC HBA (WWN) will be the same as old server).
Thanx.

Solution
If selective LUN presentation in the MSA is switched off (default) all attached servers can see all LUNs in the array.
If selective LUN presentation in the MSA is switched on you can map LUNs to HBA WWNs (ACU).
The MSA only cares about the WWN of the HBA to grant access to a particular LUN thus if you move the HBA to the new server you are fine!
Cheers
Peter
