MSA2000 - SNMP not working

Hello,

we want to manage HP StorageWorks MSA 2012i via SNMP. In the web interface SNMP is set to enabled (default), and in the Event notification part we've enabled traps and set RO and RW communities. Test trap is generated and received ok.

But snmpwalk gives troubles - even from a machine in the same LAN, there's no reply. Any idea what could possibly be wrong with it?

that is odd , there is'nt much more in the snmp setup other than the filter. i take it you have set a gateway for it in the ip setup and you can ping it etc ?

Web access works, ping works, snmp test traps work - IP layer config should be correct. Ok, I'll click through all options once more.

Ok, got it working. The community given to me was longer than what was really stored in the device, and also firewall blocked SNMP GET trafic (not the traps). Showed up when slowly re-checking all the things with community reset back to "public" and from a machine next to box, to exclude firewall from the loop.
