MSA2000 volume expansion

So we just performed a virtual disk expansion on an MSA2000 that took about 30 days to complete (added an extra  1TB disk to a 6 disk RAID6 array). I'm now considering a volume expansion.

 

Q1: will this take as long as the disk expansion or should this be a quick operation?

Q2: the extra space will be available as free space on my disk in Windows?
