MSA30 Failed disk but all lights are green

Hi

We have an MSA30 at a remote site, fully populated with 14 300GB drives.

Our on-site guy confirms, with a photo, that all 14 drives are lit green, whereas when i interrogate the array using

sautil /dev/ciss0 I get the attached, which clearly shows the failed disk and the active spare.

Is there anyway of identifying which disk has failed to our operator?

I attach a photo of the unit taken after I ID'd the failure.

Regards

Re: MSA30 Failed disk but all lights are green

Thanks Torsten.  Counting from the left then, is that the 10th one?

Also, why would the green light be on?

Re: MSA30 Failed disk but all lights are green

The output you posted is showing 2 channels, so I assume you have either a 2 port or even a 4 port I/O mudule installed, this means 2 internal busses inside the MSA30.

Bus B ID 4 is slot bay 12, counted from 1 from the left.

(sorry, 10 was a typo, but the attachment font size is very small too ...).

The LEDs could be a controller (firmware) problem - maybe.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
