MSA30 limited to 2Tb ????

Hi,

I have a DL380 G4 with a 642 controller.

I plugged a MSA30 to this one. The MSA have 14*300Gb HDD.

When I execute ACU, I just can create a 2 Tb logical drive and I need to set up a 4 Tb ld.

How can I arrange it to be possible ?

Cheers,

Re: MSA30 limited to 2Tb ????

Olivier,

Yes, you are correct - there is a 2TB single LUN size limit.

Depending on your OS you should be able to do a workaround spanning your OS logical volume across multiple LUNs (e.g. using dynamic disk & spanned volume under Win2k / 2k3 http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/0cd59ee9-79a5-4ba7-ade2-2a8cf5e9ba901033.mspx?mfr=true )

You can also use 3rd party software like Symantec Storage Foundations with VEA or HP Openview StorageWorks Virtual Replicator to "pool" your 2TB logical disks and make 1 big virtual disk.

This also offers easier disk growth and potential snapshot capabilities.
