MSA500 trouble extending logical drives.

I am running:

2 X Proliant DL380 G4

on an MSA500.

The problem I have is that whenever I try to extend a logical drive within the Array Configuration Utility 7.50.23.0. The process starts and sits there forever.

The Logical drive I am trying to extend sits there with a small blue clock on the Icon. The logical drive below this also has this blue clock.

There is no impact on performance on the Array or servers.

I have tried to do this with extending a drive by large amounts and by small amounts (10MB) but still no sucess.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: MSA500 trouble extending logical drives.

Forgot to add the status message that appears when clicking the yellow 'Status messages' button.

'Background parity initialization is currently queued or in progress on logical drive 8 (RAID 5 in array A). If background parity initialization is queued, it will start when I/O is performed on the drive. When background parity initialization completes, the performance of the logical drive will improve.
