Map Disk Redundancy Loss

I have a warning on one of my VA7100's. It says Map Disk Redundancy Loss. I looked through the controller log and I don't see anything that helps. How can I correct/clear this warning?

Thanks,

Ed

I ran the suggested commands. I looked at the output and didn't see anything obvious. I attached the files in case you are willing to look.

Thank you,

Re: Map Disk Redundancy Loss

Hi Ed,

the "armdsp -a" output is showing old firm- and software levels (HP18 instead of HP22, Software 1.07 instead of 1.09.02).

It's showing 12 installed disks, but only 1 disk is holding the recovery maps (there should be at least 2 of them). The message is "Recovery Maps are on this disk.") for disk M/D2. This is the reason for the "no redundancy" warning.

First please count your installed disks ;-)

You may try to schedule a downtime and reboot the array using the armmgr command.

In case of doubt, please open a support call.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Map Disk Redundancy Loss

12 disks is the correct number.

I shutdown my oracle databases and unmounted all filesystems on the va7100. Then I issued the command "armmgr -s start pcd2". After the array restarted, maps were present on two disks and the warning went away.

Thank you!

Re: Map Disk Redundancy Loss

Nice to hear this.

But you should consider to plan a firmware upgrade. You should contact HP service for this.

Hope this helps!
