Does anyone know if the 1TB SATA disks from an MSA20 can be used in a MDS600 and would they be supported ?
I currently have 3 MSA20 shelves connected to a DL380. Each shelf is full of 1TB disks (RAID 6) which are used for archiving data (there are actually 2 mirrored systems). I am looking to add some more archive space and I am looking at an MDS600 with 24 x 2TB disks and I would like to move the 36 1TB disks into the same enclosure.

Re: Migrating from MSA20 to MDS600
Hey, so more specifically, which disks do you have in the MSA20s? Got option number?
When you got that you can look in the quickspecs for the MDS600 to see if they are listed/supported.
Also, as MDS600 doesn't have a controller it uses the controller in the DL380. When you move the disks physically to the MDS600 they _should_ contain the raid config.
I suppose you just have to make sure you put them in the right slot, haven't seen a migration like this so don't know the specifics :s
Is the raid controller(s) you have in the DL380 supported with the MDS600? Check firmware restrictions on the controller card as well, the MDS600 does not work properly unless the raid controller is on a high enough firmware.
