Model 20 or 12H disk arrays - Conflicting stories

Hi,

I have been talking to two VAR's regarding disk arrays, in our case on an HP3000 series 987/150.

One VAR said that the 12H is a better performer than the Model 20.

The other said, that many of his customers have had degraded performance from the 12H and that the Model 20 was better.

What are your experiences?

Thanks,
Randy

Re: Model 20 or 12H disk arrays - Conflicting stories

Hi Randy,

both arrays are quite old and really slow compared to newer systems.

In fact you can do a lot of configuration settings wrong and decrease performance in that way.

There are a lot of threads in this forum about this.

Searching for "autoraid performance" may be a good start.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Model 20 or 12H disk arrays - Conflicting stories

HI Randy,

Both of these arrays are obselete and no more available from HP.

When you compare Model 20 and 12H,12H is better in stability.I have seen lots of model20 just lost data without any reason.
12H uses HP AUTORAID and much better than model20.Also Model 20 is older than 12H.
