More K580 questions on external storage

What is the current recommended external disk storage array for a K580 that we can purchase today? Thanks for all the help!

Re: More K580 questions on external storage

Hi Doris,

there is no "current recommended external disk storage array" I guess, because the K580 is NOT current. IMHO the only possibility is to try to get an A3404A Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter (1Gb) and connect a FC JBOD like ds2405. But this is patchwork. Why don't think about a new server? even entry level servers are faster and have more possibilities to connect external devices then your K-Class.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: More K580 questions on external storage

Hi Doris,

K-class boxes are fast approaching the end of life. Why would you want to add storage to them now.

There are some SCSI based arrays - AutoRaid, Nike etc. If you need just JBOD, then SCSI10, HASS are options.

However I doubt if these will be available now for purchase from HP.

Re: More K580 questions on external storage

Hi Doris, there are several that you can use but the simplest array to use with a K box (in my opinion) would be something in the Fast Wide Differential arena. Check out some of these arrays:

A3312A Jamaica Disk Array (720GB max at 7200 RPM)
A3700A Model 12H disk array (216GB max at 10k RPM)
A5616A HP HVD10 disk array (3TB max at 10k RPM)

All of these arrays are available in the used market. There are many more arrays that you can use in conjunction with the K boxes. Let me know if you might want an overview on any of the ones listed.
