Moving Disc Enclosure EVA4400 to EVA6400
Hi All,
Currently i have EVA 4400 with 8 Disc Enclosure, split in 2 disk group,
disk group 1 using Disk on enclosure 1-4, disk group 2 using disk on enclosure 5-8
the second disk group is using for 4 application: exchange, two oracle DB, and one File server
The question:
I need to upgrade the disc capacity later so i bought EVA6400 Controller,
can i moved only the second disk group (physically) to the new EVA6400?
So i do not need to change the LUN/Disk group configuration.
Is it possible to migrate without using CA?
Need your advice.
Thanks

Re: Moving Disc Enclosure EVA4400 to EVA6400
I don't think it's possible, the second disk group will contain only a copy of the metadata.
You'll get a message on boot saying "metadata unprotected", and it will also complain that the first disk group is missing.
You can upgrade from EVA4400 to EVA6400, but unsing all the disks, not just part of them.
You can open a case and ask HP L2, maybe it's possible to tell the controllers to boot anyway and generate new copies of the metadata.
