Moving Disk Shelves within an EVA

Dear All,

Two questions

(1) How to identify an EVA if it is 6000 or 6100?

(2) We have a HP 6000 EVA and want to move 2 of its disk shelves (together with the disks) to another EVA which happens to be 6100. Is this possible? Are the disk shelves compatible?

Re: Moving Disk Shelves within an EVA

Hey,

I'm a bit unsure about (1) but the difference is probably lying in what kind of loop switches are used in the back-end between disk shelves' I/O modules and HSV controllers.

If you compare the hw-revision on the IO modules on the disk shelves - are they different between the two EVAs?

Thanks. I called HP, quoting them our Care Pack number so they can see all serial numbers etc and they confirmed it should be compatible.

Re: Moving Disk Shelves within an EVA

I would appreciate if someone could point me to some documentation, best-practice guide on how to add an enclosure on a 6100 EVA please.

Re: Moving Disk Shelves within an EVA

Below two guides should help you on this.

http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01364500/c01364500.pdf -- HW configuration guide

http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01721462/c01721462.pdf -- User guide.

Ensure that you cable the additional enclosure as per the HW configuration guide. User guide explain the best practices on creating disk groups & vdisks.

Hari
