Need help in attaching the 5th D2700 enclosure to existing DL 385 G7

Hi All,

Can anyone please help me to identify what is this unused SAS/SCSI slot in the screenshot below:

Slot 1.JPG

I'm trying to add the fifth D2700 enclosure but somehow I wonder if I should attach it to the empty slot 1 above or daisy chain it to the last (fourth) D2700 enclosure from screenshot below ?

4th D2700.JPG

Here's some more additonal details from the Storage View of System Management Homepage:

Smart Array P410i In Slot 0 (Embedded Slot)
Storage Boxes
Port 4C Box 1R
Port 2C Box 2

Smart Array P411 In Slot 2
Storage Boxes
Port 1E,2E Box 1

Smart Array P411 In Slot 3
Storage Boxes
Port 1E,2E Box 1
Port 1E,2E Box 2
Port 1E,2E Box 3
Port 1E,2E Box 4

Thanks.

Best regards,

You need to check what controller is in slot 1, maybe this is a plain SAS controller?

Use system management homepage or ILO.

According to the P411 quickspec this controller supports up to 8 D2700 in a row.

So you daisy chain from enc4, upper controller P2 to enc5, upper controller P1 etc ...

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

@Torsten. thanks for the clarification.

If that's the case yes, I'll buy the D2700 enclosure today and then I'll just plug (daisy chained) the 2x SAS cable to the empty ones in Enclosure 4 no need to worry about the unused Slot 1 SAS/SCSI port.

after that I assume I can just format it from Windows Disk Management console.

Best regards,
