One P2000 SAS Dual controller MSA with two servers (how to setup)

(Sorry if I  am demonstrating my ignorance)

My imagined scenerio ...

Two virtual disks created using the first six disks, and the last six disks.

first server connects to the  P2000s uppercontroller, and the second server connects to the p2000s lower controller .

Will heavy IO on server one, affect the performance of server two?

If we have a MPIO environement with the server each have a cables going to the upper and lower controllers, could that have a negative impact on IO?

Hey, on each disk you can decide which the owning controller is.

As long as your servers have the owning controller as the preferred path in their multipathing settings your IO streams should be fairly separated. I suppose there will still be some mirroring of cache etc over the midplane, but you'd have that anyway.

Re: One P2000 SAS Dual controller MSA with two servers (how to setup)

Hey,

had also an question about the performance with the following planed configuration. There will be an Hyper-V Cluster with 4 Nodes on an P2000 SAS with two Controllers, every Server with MPIO and two SAS-Controllers, so the question is - is it better two create two CSV, one is hosted on the first MSA Controller and the second on the other MSA Controller on performance, or there now difference in performance if i create one big CSV and share it on all Servers?

Thanks

Erik
