One rp5470 server with 2x SCSI hba--> 1x ds2300, how many bcc ?

Hi!

I planning to connect one rp5470 server with two scsi hba:s (2x A6828A or 1x A6829A) to
one ds2300 (A6491A) with 2x 36Gb 15k and 2x 73Gb 15k.

I am using Mirrodisk to create two pairs in ds2300.

Do I need one bcc or two bcc ?

Can I just plug both hba:s to one bcc with
two scsi ports (and set bcc to split bus mode)=
Dublexing

Or do I need to buy second bcc (A6491A red. contr.) ? I now that whit two controllers I get
more i/o.

Thanks in advance, -pete

I found old reply that says:

"Split bus mode is when Controller A controls 7 of the harddisks (in your case 2), and controller B controls the other 7 (or 2 in your case)."

So it seems that I need 2x bcc,
no budget loophole here ?

As you said you do need 2 BCC in order to use split bus!

However, you could use Mirror-UX with only one HBA and no split bus. This would give you disk but no path, HBA and enclosure redundancy.

The solution for best redundancy would look like this: (See the attached PDF)
- 2 HBAs
- 2 DS2300 enclosures with 1x 36GB and 1x 73GB disks each
- Mirror-UX mirroring between the two enclosures
