Oracle Database Performance
Hi
Can anyone help me to understand the hardware kit and tell me what questions I should ask the system administrator with regards to Database (8i) performance and how the system should be tuned?
From what I understand we have a HP9000 (L200 series)64bit with HP-UX 11i. We have an external disk array called a SureStore Virtual Array 7100/7400 with 12 36Gb disk (cnfigured in luns 246Gb). Two controllers(512Mb per controller),etc, etc, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz!!!!

Re: Oracle Database Performance
Hi there.
Get the Install and Upgrade Guide from Oracle.
Then go through the system parts of it like kernel config, io distibution etc.
There is also a part in the Oracle documentation( database tuning ), which tells you, how to minimize i/o bottlenecks.
Get these docs from Oracle Technet or Metalink and discuss it with your sysadmin.
