P2000 G3 SAS Dual Controller and 2 Dual Ported HBAs
Hi,
I have a DL380 server with 2 Dual ported SAS HBAs. I also have another server with 1 Dual ported SAS HBA.
Looking at the cabling guide for the P2000 G3 SAS, it does not mention or show how to connect a single server with 2 Dual ported HBAs to the P2000 G3 with dual controllers. Is there a specific port assignment I need to use?
The P2000 SAS controllers go from left to right as SAS1 SAS3 SAS2 SAS4
So mine looks like this
CntrlA SAS1 | CntrlA SAS3 | CntrlA SAS2 | CntrlA SAS4 -- CntrlB SAS1 | CntrlB SAS3 | CntrlB SAS2 | CntrlB SAS4
I know to connect port 1 and port 2 on the HBAs to controller A and B for redundancy. However with 2 Dual ported HBAs on the single server I am not sure if I need to use any specific SAS port pairs on the controllers..eg... 1 and 3 or 1 and 2.. This is how I plan to lay it out.
Server 1
HBA1 Port1 = CntrlA SAS1(1st from left controller 1)
HBA1 Port2 = CntrlB SAS1(1st from left controller 2)
HBA2 Port1 = CntrlA SAS3(2nd from left controller 1)
HBA2 Port2 = CntrlB SAS3(2nd from left controller 2)
Server 2
HBA1 Port1 = CntrlA SAS2(3rd from left controller 1)
HBA1 Port2 = CntrlB SAS2(3rd from left controller 2)
Does this look OK?
Again, the cabling guide or installation guide does not mention connections with 2 dual ported HBAs in a server.
Thanks

Re: P2000 G3 SAS Dual Controller and 2 Dual Ported HBAs
The cabling manual is not what you need.
HP P2000 G3 SAS MSA System User Guide

And i think It is necessary to use same Server HBA configuration on both servers.
